DIMO 42H

Developed by Dillinger Hutte GTS, Germany, DIMO 42H is an optimised variation of AISI 4142 in holderblock quality.

Production
The DIMO 42H production route is designed to achieve the excellent machinability and dimensional stability of this holderblock steel type. This property can only be achieved by combination of the following DIMO 42H production steps:

Dimensions
DIMO 42H is available as plate with flame cut edges in the following dimensions:

Thickness
* Width
* Length
: 15mm, 20mm, 25mm, 32mm, 38mm, 42mm, 50mm, 55mm
: 1500mm - 2000mm
: 4m - 6m

* Can be cut to any size upon request.

Delivery Condition
DIMO 42H is supplied in pre-hardened (air hardened + tempered) condition.

Testing

Documentation
Unless otherwise agreed, the test results are documented in a certificate 3.1 B in accordance with
EN 10 204/DIN 50 049.

Marking
The marking is carried out via surface paint or steel stamps with at least the following information: steel grade, heat number, plate number.

Properties
The high oxidic cleanliness and the calcium modification of the remaining inclusions provide excellent machinability and minimize tool wear. DIMO 42H should not be applied for photoetching and erosion.

Heat treatment
DIMO 42H is delivered in the pre-hardened condition; therefore heat treatment is generally not necessary. This avoids the risks and costs involved by the hardening and tempering of a mould after processing. Should a heat treatment still become necessary the following data are recommended:

soft annealing stress relieving pre-heating

Tolerances
Unless otherwise agreed the following indications are valid:

 plate thickness: in accordance with ASTM A 6

 plate width:
> 49.2 <= 59 in + / - 1 in > 1250 <= 1500mm + / - 25mm
> 59 <= 78.7 in + / - 1.6 in > 1500 <= 2000mm + / - 40mm
> 78.7 in + / - 2 in > 2000mm + / - 50mm

plate length: + / - 39 in (1000mm)

flatness: 0.030 in / in (3.0 mm / m) plate length

Unless otherwise agreed, short lengths >= 78.8 in (2m) are part of the delivery.

Surface quality
Unless otherwise agreed the regulations in accordance with EN 10 163, Class A are valid. Shot blasting and shop priming on request.

General notes
If special or additional requirements not listed in this specification must be met by the steel for its intended use or processing then these requirements must be agreed upon before the order.
